About Me
Since moving to Wellington Maria Bernal has been interested in the real estate landscape for those looking for an equestrian, retirement, and other special interest lifestyle. This led her to explore the field by becoming a mortgage broker in 2001, and a real estate agent in 2009. Maria’s passion for finding people the right home comes from her enjoyment in discovering the perfect property where the desired lifestyle is represented and supported. “I love to help make people’s dreams come true!”
Her equestrian career began in 1975 and she became an accomplished show jumper in Medellin Colombia. In 1988 she founded the first vaulting academy in Quito, Ecuador, developing this equestrian modality in the country, organizing, and participating in various international competitions.
Maria’s professional experience also includes media and television as one of the founding members of the Vanidades TV, television show, was a well rated program in Ecuador.
In 1996 she continued to promote the sport of Equestrian Vaulting, by establishing, and directing The Vaulting Academy at the Club Hipico Bacata in Bogota, Colombia.
In 1997 Maria moved to Wellington, Florida where she founded the first Vaulting Academy in the state. Her team went on to win the national bronze medal that year. She taught her own equestrian balance and equilibrium program. As an expert in the field she wrote several articles and was able to train others to continue in this work.
Maria uses her special skills to help her community through her involvement with Horses for Healing Hearts: An organization that helps children who have been affected by a family member with addiction to heal emotionally, build self-esteem, and learn life-coping skills by working with horses. The only one of it’s kind in the nation. Some of the children have lost a parent recently to suicide, overdose and murder. They all need help and guidance.
