About Me

Born in Harrisburg, PA and raised in Sumter, SC, Joy James has been involved with the Sumter community and surrounding areas her entire life. She graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in Columbia, SC and went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Francis Marion University and later a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management from Webster University. Her mother, Margaret Lawson, Owner of New Beginning Catering Service, father, Reverend Willie Lawson, introduced Joy to the business world at the early age of 8 years old. Joy was shown how to not only cater to the needs of each client, but to provide an experience that would be memorable. Joy worked in the family business for over 20 years, until December 2020 when COVID-19 forced the family to make a tough decision and close the catering element of the business for good. Fortunately, Joy was able to continue her Event Coordinating with past and new clients. Throughout the years, Joy was fascinated with real estate and being involved with helping people find their place of peace and so decided that the time had finally arrived to pursue her passion. She has an energetic approach and definitely lives up to her namesake. As a native of SC, she is very familiar with the area. Joy has the heart of a finisher and will not rest until you are in the home of your dreams or help you get top dollar when selling. Contact her today and remember her slogan...a world without JOY, is a very dull world!
