After more than twenty years in veterinary medicine, working as a technician and then an operations manager, I made the jump to real estate. The two fields have more in common than people expect. Both mean paying close attention to details other people miss, staying steady when something goes wrong, and telling someone the truth even when it's not what they want to hear. I'm known on this team for being honest to a fault. When I walk through a house with a buyer, I'll tell them what's wrong with it before I tell them what's right, because that's the information that actually helps them decide. My clients are mostly first-time buyers, and a lot of them come to me specifically because they want someone who will catch what an inspection might miss and explain it in plain language, not real estate jargon. I grew up in Colfax and live on the south side of Des Moines now, so I know this part of the metro from the inside, Beaverdale, Waukee, Norwalk, Indianola, and everywhere between. I'll go wherever a client needs me, but this is the area I know best and where I spend most of my time. I'm part of Heather Wright & Associates at RE/MAX Concepts, working alongside a team built around listening first and telling clients the truth from the first call through closing day. That's the standard I hold myself to as well, whether you're buying your first house or getting ready to sell one you've lived in for years. Outside of work, I like to travel, try new recipes, and take on home remodel projects with my husband, which probably explains why I notice a bad flip from the driveway.
