I've got nearly 20 years licensed in the business, and highly believe the real estate adage "Location, Location, Location!" Work with an agent who knows the area! Just as importantly, focus on not just knowledge & experience, but also concern for your best interests. Interview, have a coffee/tea or even a meal with me and some other Realtors. Please don't pick a Realtor based on the fact that they 'appear' to be busy. Look at testimonials, but also network with your friends. Why pick a Realtor from quick surf on the web, or based on a site where they pay to play.
Buying a house is a long-term commitment and making a good decision for both your current situation and your future vision, are important to the process. Additionally, if you need a mortgage, please find a good mortgage lender. Don't waste money getting your money. When you get into it, make sure you look at enough homes to be educated about the area.
My family background is local. Father is from Emmaus (East Penn), mother is from Neffs (Parkland/Northern Lehigh), and Allentown (Salisbury).
