A rare opportunity to own an important part of Oklahoma's rich history. This 17.5 acre property adjoins Ft. Washita in southern Oklahoma. The Corp of Engineers property is on the west end of the 17.5 acres. A Confederate cemetery is located on the southern edge of the property. It is located very close to the Washita River and the Cumberland Cut bridge. The Washita River flows into Lake Texoma. Ft. Washita was built in 1854 by President Zachary Taylor. The Fort was occupied by Confederate troops during the Civil War (1861-1865) Events held at the fort include mountain man rendezvous, ghost tours, Mexican War, and Civil War reenactor impressions. The fort is reported to be one of the most haunted places in Oklahoma.
