Surratts
Surratts offers a tranquil neighborhood with low noise levels and a slower-paced atmosphere, making it an inviting place to settle. This district features primarily single detached homes and row houses, with many properties built around the mid-1980s. The area includes approximately twenty parks such as Cheltenham Park and Tinkers Creek Park, providing abundant green spaces accessible from many locations. Educational options include both public and private schools at elementary and secondary levels, conveniently located within the district. While multiple bus lines serve the neighborhood, driving and parking are especially convenient for residents navigating the area’s roadways.
Surratts is a very good district for driving. It is especially convenient to find a place to park. On the other hand, traveling by transit can be challenging in Surratts by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are about 10 bus lines passing through the district, and bus stops are usually very close by. This area is not particularly suited for cycling because there are a fair number of slopes for cyclists to brave, and there are few bike lanes. Most houses for sale in this district are located in places that are also not very suitable for pedestrians as carrying out day-to-day needs is at times challenging without a vehicle.
In most cases, a vehicle is required to buy groceries in one of around 30 stores. A limited selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well. Regarding education, primary schools are easy to reach as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in this area. In contrast, locals may consider it challenging to access high schools without a car. In addition to public schools, there are private elementary and high schools.
The character of Surratts is exemplified by its calm environment. This district is very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially close to one of the 3 airports (Potomac Airfield,Joint Base Andrews,Washington Executive/Hyde Field). Finally, the majority of locations in the district have reasonably good access to parks, such as L P Cosca Regional Park and Freedom Park, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to unwind in and a lot of homes for sale have a park a short distance away.
