Getting around as a pedestrian is rather practical for house buyers in this area; running daily errands is easy without a car, and a variety of businesses are close by. In contrast, Straw / Smyth is not particularly appropriate for bicycling as riding a bicycle is rendered strenuous by the typically steep area, and there are a limited number of bike lanes. Cars are a good transportation option in this area. Many real estate listings are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as I-93, and it is easy to come across a parking spot. However, the transit service in this part of the city is rather limited. Thankfully, house owners are served by about 10 bus lines, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most homes.

It is straightforward to access the closest grocery store as a pedestrian from anywhere in this area. In addition, this neighborhood is a fairly good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. Regarding education, both primary and secondary schools are very easy to access without needing a car from anywhere in Straw / Smyth. Residents can choose between public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level.
Character
Straw / Smyth is unique in that it contains both vibrant and quiet areas, making it appealing to more people. Although this part of the city is not known for its vibrancy, the vibe is still quite dynamic around its main streets, and finding one of the approximately 10 bars is easy because they are generally located a short distance away. At the same time, this area is very good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are generally very calm.
