Cars are a very good transportation option in Salem Lakes. It is very convenient to access a place to park. Commuting by bicycle is difficult in Salem Lakes because there are a good number of hills, and the cycling infrastructure is quite poor. Many of the houses for sale in this part of the Chicago metropolitan area are located in places that are also not very well-suited for people who like to travel as pedestrians because meeting daily needs is inconvenient without the use of a vehicle.

Services

There are only a very small number of high schools and primary schools in Salem Lakes and accordingly they can be a very long trip away. When it comes to food, in all but a few cases, a car is needed to buy groceries. A small selection of restaurants can be found in this village as well.

Character

Salem Lakes is an excellent village to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Most areas in Salem Lakes are especially quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor. A large number of locations within the village have reasonably good access to green spaces, including Kenosha County Fairgrounds and Old Settlers Park, since they are sparse. Despite that, there are over 50 parks close by for residents to check out.
