The favored way to get around in this part of Spring Valley is usually a car. It is easy to park, and many properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway. In contrast, residents using public transit may have few options in Ranchwood due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighborhood, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. Ranchwood is not very well-suited for those who like to get around as pedestrians as few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. The bicycle is a somewhat poor mode of transportation in Ranchwood as the cycling network is not particularly well-developed, and there are quite a few elevation changes.

In all but a limited number of cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries. That being said, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner. In terms of education, there are only a limited number of primary schools in Ranchwood and accordingly they can be a rather long distance away. Additionally, this part of the community does not contain any high schools.

Ranchwood offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet. Although the ambience is not the most lively in this part of Spring Valley with the nightlife venues in nearby neighborhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink since they are generally located very close by. At the same time, this neighborhood is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor. Green spaces aren't well-located, which makes it occasionally difficult to reach them. Despite that, there are a few parks close by for residents to enjoy.
