Meriden
Meriden offers a charming, slower-paced environment with mostly quiet surroundings ideal for peaceful living. The community is well-served by approximately ten bus lines, providing convenient access to public transportation options, including proximity to the Hartford Line railroad. Most residences are conveniently located near highways like I-691, facilitating easy car travel throughout the area. Housing options range widely from single detached homes to large apartment buildings and duplexes, with varied sizes from lofts to large multi-bedroom units. Residents can find supermarkets within a reasonable distance, along with public and private educational institutions at various levels, supporting a convenient daily routine.
Moving around by car is very easy in this area. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Wilbur Cross Pkwy, from any home in Meriden, and it is convenient to access a parking spot. However, this area is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there is the Meriden with access to the Hartford Line. The town is connected by around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. This town is not especially bike-friendly because riding is made arduous by the typically steep topography, and the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive. Traveling as a pedestrian in this area is also not very popular, even though many day-to-day needs can be met without a vehicle.
Primary schools are convenient to reach as a pedestrian from any location in this town. However, it can be challenging to access high schools as a pedestrian. Residents have the choice between public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. When it comes to food, a grocery store is usually reachable within a short distance from any location in Meriden. Additionally, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a small selection of coffee shops can be found as well.
Meriden is a fairly good town to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. Most areas in Meriden are quiet, as the streets are quite peaceful - however noise can be problematic near the railway line, I-91, I-691 or the airport (Meriden Markham Muni).
