Hingham
Main Street offers a peaceful setting with numerous green spaces like Jacobs Meadow and Merrymount Road Conservation Area close at hand. The neighborhood features a mix of single detached homes and townhouses, with many properties built before the 1960s along with residences from the 1960s and 1980s, providing architectural variety. Residents benefit from nearby public and private primary and secondary schools, while pharmacies supplying essential items are conveniently accessible. Parking is plentiful, and the streets are optimized for car travel. Several bus lines serve the area, adding to transportation options despite the hilly terrain and limited bike lane availability.
Driving is an excellent transportation option in this neighborhood. Parking is generally easy, and most of the street infrastructure is made for driving. On the other hand, the transit system in Main Street is fairly poor. Thankfully, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. It is inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate Main Street as few common errands can be run without the need for a vehicle. The bike is a somewhat poor mode of transportation in this neighborhood because the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and there are a fair number of elevation changes.
In all but a limited number of cases, a car is required in this neighborhood to reach the nearest grocery store. Nonetheless, it is generally a reasonably short pedestrian trip to the nearest pharmacy, which can provide some staple foods. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well. As far as education is concerned, both primary and secondary schools are easy to access as a pedestrian from most houses for sale in Main Street. Besides public schools, there are private elementary and high schools.
There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Main Street. Parks, such as Water Department Land and McKenna Marsh Conservation Area, are very well-distributed and there are around 40 of them close by for residents to check out, which makes them very easy to reach. It is relatively serene in this neighborhood, as there are very few people out and about on the streets.
