The car is very often the favored approach to move around in Lexington. It is very convenient to find a place to park, and most houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as I-20. It is challenging to get around by bike in this town because there are a fair number of elevation changes, and the bicycling network is not very extensive. This town is also not particularly well-suited for pedestrians since few day-to-day needs can be met without a car.
Services
The closest supermarket in this part of the Columbia metropolitan area is generally only a reasonably short pedestrian trip away. Additionally, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a limited selection of coffee shops is available as well. Concerning education, there are only a few high schools and primary schools in Lexington and thus they can be a rather long trip away. In addition to public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools.

Lexington is a very good town to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Lexington is very quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic closer to the railway line or I-20.
