Many properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as I-470, and parking is generally easy. In contrast, Independence is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are commonly very close by. It is challenging for pedestrians to navigate Independence as few common errands can be run without a vehicle. The bike is a rather poor mode of transportation in Independence as the bicycling network is not very extensive, and there is a considerable amount of elevation changes.
