Highlands offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere with low traffic noise throughout the neighborhood. The area features a diverse housing mix, including single detached homes, small apartment buildings, and duplexes built predominantly between the 1960s and 1980s. Residents benefit from convenient proximity to several local businesses and essential services that support everyday needs. Educational access is strong here, with primary and secondary schools located within easy reach. Accessibility to highways like I-293 is excellent, making driving outgoing trips efficient while parking availability is abundant. A limited but functional bus service helps provide connections, enhancing overall neighborhood convenience.
Highlands is a fairly convenient part of Manchester for pedestrians; many daily needs can be met without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. In contrast, this part of the city is not very amenable to biking because the cycling network is not very well-developed, and bicycle riders are faced with a considerable amount of elevation changes. The preferred mode of transportation in Highlands is very often driving. Parking is quite easy, and it is a short car ride to the closest highway, such as I-293, from any location in this neighborhood. On the other hand, the transit access in Highlands is rather poor. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighborhood, and bus stops are ordinarily around the corner.
The nearest supermarket in Highlands is typically only a long distance away. Likewise, there are a fair number of options for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes. As far as education is concerned, in Highlands, house buyers will generally be able to get to primary as well as high schools without a car. Locals are served by public and private elementary schools.
Highlands offers an unique mix of areas that are both busy and quiet.
