Hayhurst offers a peaceful neighborhood with low noise levels and a relaxed atmosphere for residents. The area features mainly spacious single detached homes, many with three or more bedrooms, complemented by well-maintained large and small apartment buildings. Several parks, including the conveniently located Alpenrose Farm, provide ample green space for outdoor enjoyment. Primary schools, both public and private, are nearby, and there are approximately ten diverse restaurants and coffee shops. Public transit is accessible through multiple bus lines with stops close to residences. Easy parking and convenient driving routes make getting around simple in this inviting community.
This neighborhood is reasonably conducive to people who get around as pedestrians; many daily needs can be met without a car. In contrast, the bicycle is a somewhat poor method of transportation in Hayhurst since the cycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed, and there are quite a few slopes. The car is often the best means of transportation in this neighborhood. It is straightforward to access a parking spot. However, this area is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighborhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties.
It is a reasonably short trip to access primary schools from anywhere in Hayhurst. On the other hand, locals may find it very hard to get to high schools without a car. Residents are served by public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. Concerning eating, the closest supermarket in Hayhurst is generally only a reasonably short distance away. Additionally, there are a good number of choices in close proximity for those who value restaurants and cafes.
Hayhurst is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this neighborhood. Hayhurst is very quiet, as the streets tend to be very peaceful. However, it is easy to reach green spaces in the neighborhood since there are about 40 of them nearby for residents to enjoy. Finally, even though this part of Portland is not known for its lively ambience, with its a few bars, there are options for nighttime activities.
