Though cycling may be challenging due to hilly terrain, the comprehensive local infrastructure ensures many errands and needs can be addressed within a short distance.
House buyers who want to live in a compact community will be pleased with the moderately pedestrian-friendly nature of this part of the city; meeting daily needs is easy without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. On the other hand, commuting by bicycle is difficult in Great Fire because there is a considerable amount of hills. Nonetheless, the cycling infrastructure is reasonably good.
It is a short trip to reach both primary and secondary schools from any location in Great Fire. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. With respect to eating, the nearest grocery store in Great Fire is usually only a very short trip away. Likewise, thanks to 40-odd restaurants and cafes in this part of the city, there is typically a place to get some food or drink just around the corner, for example on State Street. It is also easy to access a variety of clothing stores without a vehicle.
Those who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere will feel at home in Great Fire. Even though this neighborhood is not known for its vibrancy, finding one of the a few bars is very easy because they are generally located very close by. Noise can sometimes be an issue in this part of Bangor, since traffic during busier hours of the day can occasionally be loud, although there are still several quieter pockets.
