This community is very car friendly. Parking is easy. In contrast, the public transit service in Forest Highlands is not very frequent. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the community, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. It is impractical for pedestrians to navigate Forest Highlands because carrying out daily needs is occasionally challenging without the use of a vehicle. Traveling by bicycle is also at times difficult in this part of the Portland metropolitan area since there are few bike lanes, and there is a significant amount of hills.

It is a rather short pedestrian trip to get to both primary and secondary schools from any location in Forest Highlands. Residents have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. Concerning eating, it is rarely possible for property owners in Forest Highlands to do groceries as pedestrians. A small variety of restaurants and cafes is available as well.

Forest Highlands is a very good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm atmosphere. This community is very quiet overall, as the streets are generally very tranquil. Finally, there are about 40 public green spaces close by for residents to visit, such as Tryon Creek State Natural Area and Iron Mountain Park, making them very easy to get to.
