It is convenient for pedestrians to move around in Fircrest; running common errands is convenient without the need for a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. On the other hand, it is sometimes difficult to commute by bike in Fircrest as there is a considerable amount of slopes, and the bicycling network is rather poor. The preferred way to get around in this part of the city is usually a car. Most real estate listings are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, and it is very convenient to park. On the other hand, the transit access in Fircrest is fairly poor. Nevertheless, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most residences.
Services
House buyers in Fircrest will welcome that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short trip away. In addition, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. Regarding education, it is a reasonably short trip to get to primary schools from anywhere in Fircrest. On the other hand, there are only a few high schools and thus they can be an extended distance away. Fircrest is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this part of the city. Although the ambience is not the most lively in this area with the nightlife venues in nearby neighborhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located relatively close by. Fircrest is very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Most locations in the neighborhood have reasonably good access to green spaces, including China Lake Park and DeLong Park, since there are approximately 40 of them nearby for residents to unwind in.
