While bus lines cross the area and nearby bus stops are easily accessible, personal vehicles serve as the primary mode of transportation. The car is usually the best transportation option in Drum Point. In contrast, the public transit access in this part of the Greater Washington metropolitan area is not very practical. Thankfully, the community is linked by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. Drum Point is not very suitable for pedestrians as carrying out daily needs is almost impossible without a vehicle. Drum Point is also not very bicycling-friendly as cyclists encounter a considerable amount of elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is rather poor.

Residents may find it very hard to reach high schools and primary schools without needing a car. At the secondary level, both public and private schools can be found. With respect to eating, it is very rarely possible for property owners in Drum Point to access the nearest grocery store as pedestrians.
