District 7 offers a calm and peaceful environment with predominantly single detached homes and some duplexes, mostly built in the mid-20th century. The neighborhood provides easy access to local grocery stores and a variety of dining options, including several cafes along Riverside Drive. Educational facilities such as primary and secondary schools are conveniently reachable, adding to the area's appeal. Although the area does not have an extensive cycling infrastructure, it features limited elevation changes that facilitate outdoor movement. Convenient parking and proximity to major highways like I-20 make traveling by car simple throughout the district. The serene atmosphere is a defining characteristic of District 7.

This district is especially car friendly. Coming across a parking spot is easy, and the majority of properties for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as US Hwy 71. However, District 7 is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, homeowners benefit from approximately 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically around the corner. Getting around as a pedestrian in District 7 is not very popular, although many common errands can be run without a car. District 7 is also not especially suited for cycling as the bicycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. Nevertheless, there are a limited number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

Residents will welcome that wherever their house is situated in District 7, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. With respect to food, it is generally possible for home buyers in this area to shop for groceries as pedestrians. Likewise, a restaurant is typically just around the corner, for example along Riverside Drive, and there are also about 10 coffee shops in District 7. It is also a rather short distance to a decent choice of clothing stores.

Character

Those who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere will feel at home in District 7. Even though the ambience is not the liveliest in this district with its approximately 40 nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities. As there are few pedestrians, this district is relatively quiet; however there can be more noise for those who are around the airport (Shreveport Downtown), one of the railway lines, I-20 or US Hwy 71.
