Cars are a great means of transportation in this area. It is a reasonably short car ride to the closest highway, such as Capital Beltway, from anywhere in District 5, and it is very easy to park. In contrast, this area is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, homeowners are served by approximately 40 bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. District 5 is not particularly suitable for people who prefer to travel as pedestrians as few daily needs can be met without a car. On the other hand, this area is fairly suited for biking.
Services
Locals will value that no matter where their house is situated in District 5, primary schools are nearby. However, there are only a very small number of high schools and therefore they can be a very long pedestrian trip away. Locals have the choice between public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. When it comes to eating, the closest supermarket in District 5 is typically only an extended pedestrian trip away. Old Columbia Pike is among the best streets for food stores. A limited selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well.

The character of District 5 is exemplified by its calm ambience. This area is very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.
