District 5 is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this area. Even though the ambience is not the liveliest in this area finding one of the over 50 nightlife venues is very easy as they are generally situated in very convenient locations. Main streets, like Metairie Road, are very good for those who enjoy going out. District 5 is quiet overall, as the streets are usually reasonably tranquil, although that is not the case around I-10 or the railway line. Access to public green spaces in the district, including West End Park and New Basin Canal Park, is easy, since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to discover and reaching a park from many properties is occasionally hard.
