The area features a calm and relaxed atmosphere, complemented by several nearby public green spaces easily accessible from most locations. Convenience is highlighted by numerous nearby schools at both elementary and high school levels, as well as about ten grocery stores within relatively close reach. While car travel is a favored mode of transportation with quick access to major highways and ample parking, this neighborhood’s bus system provides multiple routes, supporting practical transit options.

In contrast, District 13 is not particularly bicycling-friendly as the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive, and there is a considerable amount of elevation changes. The public transit service in this area is not very frequent. Nevertheless, homeowners benefit from the Halethorpe and St Denis on the Camden - Washington and Penn - Washington. The district is connected by approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are usually around the corner. On the other hand, driving is very often the preferred approach to get around in this area. It is a short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Harbor Tunnel Throughway, from any location in this district, and it is easy to park.

Residents will appreciate that wherever their property is located in District 13, both primary and secondary schools are close by. Besides public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools. As far as eating is concerned, the closest supermarket in District 13 is typically only a rather short distance away. 1st Avenue is among the best streets for groceries. Furthermore, District 13 is a good place in which to eat out, and a limited number of cafes is available as well.

Character

District 13 offers a slower-paced atmosphere and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Green spaces, such as Reedbird Island Park and Brooklyn Heights Park, are very well-located and there are over 100 of them close by for residents to check out, which makes them easy to get to. This district is quiet overall, as the streets are calm - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially closer to Baltimore Beltway, I-95 or one of the railway lines.
