It is occasionally challenging to commute by bike in this community as Devens is home to rather poor bicycling infrastructure, and there are a good number of elevation changes. It is also impractical for pedestrians to navigate this part of the Worcester metropolitan area because very few daily needs can be carried out without the use of a vehicle.

Residents will appreciate that wherever their property is located in Devens, secondary schools are nearby. However, there are only a very small number of primary schools and accordingly they can be a very long distance away. With respect to food, buying one's groceries typically requires the use of a vehicle in Devens. A limited selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well.

Devens offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This part of the Worcester metropolitan area is very quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.
