Desire Area is an extraordinarily good part of New Orleans for getting around by car. Parking is quite easy, and the majority of properties for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Pontchartrain Expy. However, the public transit infrastructure in Desire Area is not very practical. Thankfully, the neighborhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. Getting around by bicycle is at times difficult in this area because there are few bike lanes. Nevertheless, riding is facilitated by the generally flat terrain. Desire Area is also not especially well-suited for those who prefer to get around as pedestrians because few daily needs can be met without a vehicle.

Services

It is a short distance to access high schools from any location in Desire Area. In contrast, residents may find it challenging to access primary schools without a car. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. With regards to food, it is difficult to get to the nearest supermarket without a vehicle in this neighborhood. Moreover, a restaurant is usually just around the corner, for instance along Old Gentilly Road, and home buyers are served by a few cafes as well.

Character

Desire Area has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. The noise levels in Desire Area are quite low, as the streets are generally quite calm, although that is not the case close to one of the railway lines or Pontchartrain Expy. On the other hand, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to visit and they are especially well-distributed, which makes them easy to access. Lastly, even though this area is not known for its lively atmosphere, with the bars in nearby neighborhoods, it is rather difficult to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located quite far away.
