In contrast, Darien is not an especially pleasant part of the Greater Bridgeport metropolitan area for traveling by public transit. Nonetheless, the closest train station, including the Talmadge Hill, Darien and Rowayton with access to the New Haven, Danbury and New Canaan, is ordinarily close by from the majority of homes in the community. There are about 10 bus lines, and it is straightforward to find a nearby bus stop from most houses. This community is not very appropriate for biking since Darien has rather poor bicycling infrastructure, and the topography is not especially flat. Traveling as a pedestrian in this community is also not very popular, despite the fact that carrying out daily needs is convenient without the use of a car, and many businesses are close by.

Primary schools are convenient to access as a pedestrian from anywhere in this part of the Greater Bridgeport metropolitan area.
