Commuting by car is straightforward in this part of the Roanoke metropolitan area. It is very easy to park. In contrast, the public transit service in Cave Spring is not very frequent. Nevertheless, there are about 10 bus lines passing through the community. Bicycling is challenging in this part of the Roanoke metropolitan area as riding is rendered difficult by the often steep topography, and the cycling network is fairly poor. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not especially practical for residents in Cave Spring because meeting daily needs is at times difficult without the use of a car.

High schools and primary schools are not very abundant in this community, and thus tend to be an extended pedestrian trip away.
