Burlington
Burlington, Iowa, offers a serene and peaceful environment with predominantly single detached homes featuring two and three bedrooms. The area is well connected to highways, making it convenient for residents to access various destinations by car. Public transit serves the community with several bus lines and nearby stops, adding an option for travel within the city. Residents find easy access to pharmacies and several restaurants close to their properties. Primary schools and private educational institutions are located throughout the neighborhood, providing abundant schooling opportunities. Quiet streets contribute to the calm ambiance, making this neighborhood a pleasant place to settle.
Burlington is very car friendly. Many real estate listings are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, and it is very easy to access a place to park. However, public transit users may experience limited choices in Burlington due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, homeowners have access to a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically around the corner. Bicycling is challenging in Burlington as there are few bike lanes, and there is a considerable amount of slopes. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not especially practical for residents in Burlington because few common errands can be run without needing a car.
It is convenient to reach the nearest supermarket as a pedestrian in this city. Furthermore, Burlington is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, for example along Washington Street, and a limited number of coffee shops is available as well. With respect to education, primary schools are easy to reach as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in this area. However, house owners may consider it very hard to reach high schools as pedestrians. Residents benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level.
Burlington is unique in that it has both vibrant and quiet areas, making it appealing to more people. Even though the atmosphere is not the liveliest in this city with its approximately 20 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Washington Street in particular offers a wide selection of places to go out at night. At the same time, this city is fairly good for those who like quiet areas, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic, although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines or the airport (Southeast Iowa Rgnl).
