Burlington
Burlington features a calm atmosphere with minimal street noise, providing a peaceful setting for residents. The city offers a wealth of dining options, boasting over 50 restaurants that cater to diverse tastes. Convenient access to pharmacies ensures that essential needs are met with ease. The community’s housing is predominantly charming two to three bedroom single detached homes, many built during the city’s historic construction boom. Primary schools are conveniently located throughout the area, with a variety of public and private options available. While the city has limited cycling infrastructure due to its hilly terrain, plentiful parking and proximity to major highways add to overall convenience and accessibility.
Burlington is very car friendly. It is very easy to find a parking spot, and the majority of properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway. In contrast, this city is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. Burlington is not particularly well-suited for those who prefer to get around as pedestrians as running common errands is occasionally difficult without a car. Burlington is also not very amenable to cycling as the bicycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive, and there are quite a few slopes.
In Burlington, residents will typically be able to reach primary schools as pedestrians. However, high schools are not plentiful and thus not always within a short distance. Locals have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. In terms of eating, the nearest grocery store in Burlington is typically only a reasonably short trip away. Likewise, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a good number of choices, and home buyers can enjoy a few cafes as well.
One of the appealing aspects of Burlington is that it has both vibrant and quiet areas. Although the ambience is not the liveliest in this city with its about 20 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. At the same time, this city is reasonably quiet, as the streets are calm, although that is not the case closer to the airport (Southeast Iowa Rgnl) or one of the railway lines.
