This part of Omaha is not particularly bike-friendly since there are a fair number of slopes. Nonetheless, the bicycling infrastructure is fairly good. Many of the houses for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also not particularly suitable for pedestrians as few daily needs can be carried out without a vehicle.

Brookhaven is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of the city. Although this area is not known for its vibrancy, with the bars in nearby neighborhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located relatively close by. Brookhaven is very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Green spaces, including Roxbury Park and Brookhaven Park, are especially well-situated and there are a few of them close by for residents to explore, making them easy to get to from numerous locations in this part of Omaha.
