Bridgewater
Bridgewater offers a peaceful atmosphere with numerous parks nearby, including Duke Island Park and Flockhart Park, providing ample opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. The township features a variety of single detached homes and townhouses, predominantly constructed around 1980, with spacious three- and four-bedroom layouts. Accessibility by car is excellent, with convenient parking and close proximity to major highways such as I-78 and I-287. Public transit access includes the Raritan Valley Line train station and several bus routes. Residents have a wide range of dining options with over 50 restaurants and about 10 grocery stores within the area, supporting a diverse and convenient living experience.
Driving is usually the best method to navigate this township. Many real estate listings are a short drive from the closest highway, such as I-287, and it is especially convenient to access a place to park. On the other hand, Bridgewater is not a very pleasant township for traveling by public transit. Nonetheless, there is the North Branch, Bound Brook and Somerville with access to the Raritan Valley Line. There are a few bus lines. This township is not particularly bike-friendly as there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and the cycling network is not very extensive. It is also inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate this area because running common errands is at times difficult without a vehicle.
A fraction of property owners in this area may be able to travel to one of over 50 supermarkets without a car, while others will have to rely on a vehicle. A limited selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well. In terms of education, in this area, residents will often be able to reach primary schools without a vehicle. In contrast, it can be very difficult to access high schools as a pedestrian. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools.
The character of Bridgewater is exemplified by its calm environment. Most areas in this area are reasonably quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - however noise can be bothersome closer to the airport (Somerset), I-287, I-78 or one of the railway lines. Lastly, there are over 100 green spaces nearby for residents to check out, like Gerber Field and Victor Crowell Memorial Park, which results in them being easy to reach from numerous locations within Bridgewater.
