Bedford is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to find a parking spot, and it is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway, such as I-684, from any home in this town. In contrast, the transit network in this town is not very practical. Nevertheless, train stations, such as the Katonah, Mt Kisco and Bedford Hills on the Harlem, are not particularly far away from most properties in the town. The town is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily around the corner. Bedford is not very appropriate for bicycling because the bicycling network is not very well-developed, and there is a considerable amount of elevation changes. This town is also not very well-suited for people who prefer to travel as pedestrians because running daily errands is sometimes difficult without needing a vehicle.

It is a rather short pedestrian trip to get to primary schools from anywhere in Bedford. However, there are only a very small number of high schools and accordingly they can be a very long distance away. Property owners have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. With regards to eating, in all but a few cases, a car is required in Bedford to reach one of about 30 grocery stores. There are also a few options for those who appreciate close by restaurants and cafes.

Bedford offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is very quiet, as the streets are generally very tranquil. Finally, getting to green spaces, including Butler Sanctuary and Eugene and Agnes Meyer Nature Preserve, is easy from many locations in the town, since the majority of properties for sale have one close by and there are approximately 40 parks close by for residents to enjoy.
