Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in this part of the Inland Empire metropolitan area. It is very convenient to park, and nearby highways, such as Needles Freeway, are very easy to drive to from any home in Barstow. However, the public transit service in this city is fairly poor. Nonetheless, the city is linked by approximately 10 bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. The bike is a rather poor method of transportation in this part of the Inland Empire metropolitan area because the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive. Nonetheless, the area is reasonably flat. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not particularly feasible for house buyers in Barstow since few day-to-day needs can be carried out without a vehicle.
