Driving is a very good transportation option in Atlantic. It is very easy to park. However, public transit riders may have limited choices in this part of the city due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close by.

Locals may consider it difficult to reach high schools and primary schools without the use of a vehicle. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. Atlantic is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of Raleigh. Atlantic is very quiet overall, as the streets are generally very peaceful. However, public green spaces, such as Eastgate Park and Middle Crabtree Creek Trail, are very well-distributed and there are about 20 of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes it easy to reach them. Finally, although the atmosphere is not the most lively in this neighborhood with its about 10 nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities.
