Many of the homes for sale in this part of the urban county are located in areas that are not especially well-suited for those who travel as pedestrians since running daily errands is at times difficult without a vehicle. The bike is a sometimes poor means of transportation in Andover Forest as there are few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of slopes.

Primary schools are not numerous in Andover Forest, and thus often beyond a short distance, and there are no high schools. No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighborhood, Andover Forest is a reasonably good option. Although this part of Lexington-Fayette is not known for its vibrancy, finding one of the a few bars is easy since they are generally located a short distance away. Andover Forest is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to visit, including Sweet Clover Greenway and Sunningdale Greenway, and they are very well-distributed, resulting in them being easy to get to from a lot of locations within this neighborhood.
