This part of the city allows property owners to get around by different modes of transportation. The public transit infrastructure in Allentown is reasonably good. Rapid transit stations, such as First Avenue Station, South Hills Junction Station and Station Square Station with access to the Castle Shannon via Beechview, Library via Overbrook and South Hills Village via Overbrook, are not very far-removed from the bulk of properties in the neighborhood. There are about 30 bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Getting around as a pedestrian is also moderately feasible for residents in Allentown; most daily needs are easy to carry out without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Allentown is moderately amenable to biking because there are a fair number of bike lanes.
A grocery store is generally accessible within a short pedestrian trip from anywhere in Allentown. In addition, with 50-odd restaurants and cafes in this neighborhood, there is generally a place to get some food or drink just around the corner. Home buyers benefit from a good number of nearby clothing stores. With regards to education, it is a short distance to get to primary schools from any location in Allentown. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this part of Pittsburgh.
No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighborhood, Allentown is a fairly good option. Allentown is very quiet, as the streets are usually very peaceful. However, there are approximately 10 green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, including Emerald View Park and McKinley Park, and they are especially well-distributed, which makes them easy to reach. Finally, although this neighborhood is not known for its lively ambience, the vibe can still be quite dynamic around its main streets, and with its about 20 nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities.
