STOP! I know what you're doing! You are searching through REALTOR profiles trying to find the right professional for your needs. In doing so, you recognize that not all agents are the same. Truth be told, there are so few barriers to entry in this industry, picking an agent can seem like making a selection from Forrest Gump’s proverbial box of chocolates. I don’t know if I’m the right guy for you or not, but please take the time to read my story – you will have either found the agent you’re looking for or you will have learned what an exceptional agent can and should sound like.
Knowledge is power in this business, and there are two types of knowledge: learned business skills and instinctive street smarts. Fortunately, I possess both. In 1996 I received my B.S. suma cum laude in Economics from James Madison University. In 2001, I received my MBA from the College of William and Mary. But my business education started way before any of that.
Growing up in the eighties, I watched my father grow his retail garden center from a tiny roadside store to one of the largest, most innovative independent retail garden centers in the country. I started working for my Dad at age 9, and I credit that experience for teaching me a strong work ethic and the value of a dollar. My Dad taught me how to work with a wide variety of people and to cater to the most demanding of customers. From him I inherited my entrepreneurial spirit which led me to go into business for myself as a REALTOR.
Combining this business knowledge with local knowledge of streets and neighborhoods that comes from a lifetime of living here, you get an agent that is extremely well equipped to help serve his clients’ needs. Whether you are looking to list your unique, waterfront home or are looking to downsize to an upscale single story home, you want an agent who shares your vision. In addition, you should want an agent with the backbone to tell you the truth about what it’s going to take to complete a successful sale or purchase.
If you’ve read my story this far, I want you to understand three things. Number one, I’m not in this business to make a quick dollar. I’m here because I love this area and I want leave a lasting impact on people’s lives - and that's not going to be measured by how much money I make, but rather by my reputation among my clients and peers. Number two, I believe in this industry and the value of the service I bring to my clients. Yet, at the same time recognize that, while the costs are similar among agents, service and performance are not. Finally number three, the economics of the Internet has made it such that anyone with enough money can get in front of a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean that person is any good. While I work mostly by referral and not the "spray and pray" method of online lead generation, I am always happy to meet and serve new people.
