I have always had a love for the outdoors. If I’m not in the office or out showing homes and land, I prefer to be out hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. I was born and raised in S.W. Michigan living on the outskirts of Grand Rapids with many open fields, woods and ponds to explore. When I finished school, I moved to the Northwest corner of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula to work at a golf/ski resort as a ski instructor, teaching windsurfing in the summer. As I improved my sporting skills, I also worked my way into a managerial position at the resort as the Director of Skiing. My love of skiing brought me to Summit County Colorado in the fall of 1983. My first 2 years in Colorado I was a winter resident only, traveling to San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina to teach skiing during our summer, their winter months. It was a fantastic experience!
I began selling real estate in Summit County in the Fall of 1986. The first couple of years were quite lean on business as the market was in a downward trend due to the oil crisis of the mid-80’s. It was a blessing in disguise as I was able to learn the real estate market thoroughly and give my clients and customers accurate, knowledgeable advice as property began selling again in 1988. I joined RE/MAX in the spring of that year and made the coveted RE/MAX Presidents Club Award in just under 9 months of sales. In 1989 I skipped the Executive Club Award and produced enough sales to score the top award designation at the time – The 100% Club Award. I never looked back and have been a Top Producer within RE/MAX LLC to the present day.
I have built a reputable business for myself based on what I call the “Golden Rule of Real Estate” simply “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In other words, provide my Buyers and Sellers with good, sound advice, guidance, knowledge of the real estate market, insight into the current trends of the market…all with a top level of service that we all would hope to receive if the roles were reversed. Whether it is $50,000 purchase price or a $5,000,000 transaction, provide the level of service that we all deserve.
