About Me
My parents arrived in Alaska in the late 50's and settled in the Chugiak, Eagle River area, just 20 miles Northeast of Anchorage. We lived across the highway from where my father taught elementary school, he would eventually become a geology instructor for the local University several days a week while continuing to teach 5th graders during the day! He reveled in being an educator. Running into former students of his is one of my most treasured experiences. Our family quickly adapted to a life surrounded by the rugged mountains, many lakes and rivers, wildlife and of course the amazing people that make up our countries largest State. In the mid 80's through the early 2000's my former husband and I, along with his family, owned and operated an ATV and Snowmobile Dealership in the Matanuska Susitna Borough, we kept up with the pulse of the population and still enjoy the many recreational opportunities the Valley has to offer. During the mid 80's my mother and father homesteaded in interior Alaska because my mother refused to leave without owning a good size "swath". They thoroughly enjoyed the homestead experience, it also introduced the family to flying as passengers in small aircraft which many people refer to as "work trucks" in a State that has nearly 1 small plane for every 60 people. I remember well, flying over the land seeing bear and moose then the cabin appearing so small in the vast countryside. Our little A-frame sits along the banks of a beautiful Lake in the wild Alaska Wilderness north of Nenana. Over the years I have worked diligently as a volunteer and community member advocating for many different causes and at one point coaching youth basketball. I chose to raise my 3 sons here and to this day cannot describe the feeling I get when I drive along the Glenn, the Parks or the Seward Highway, where the scenery is breathtaking and continues to hold me in it's clutches. I am proud to be a life long Alaskan.
