Karen Rivera specializes in Short Sales / Foreclosures and helping First Time Homebuyers and Veterans. As a proud sister of a Navy veteran, she knows first hand about some of the challenges families of veterans go through.

She is passionate about helping distressed homeowners because of the hardships she has endured in her past. These experiences have given her intimate knowledge in various options available to distressed homeowners in risk of a Short Sale or Foreclosure.

Her current certifications include: Short Sales and Foreclosures Resource Certification, Texas Affordable Housing Specialist Certification, Pricing Strategy Advisor Certification, Military Relocation Professional Certification, and Real Estate Negotiation Expert Certification

Karen’s real estate career started with her college internship in New Jersey back in 1996. After graduating from Rutgers University in 1997, she moved to Texas where she began her real estate career in New Construction and serving first time home buyers. Karen has been part of the award winning Matthew Guzman Team at RE/MAX Universal since its inception.

Before her real estate career, Karen worked for 20 years in various Texas non-profits helping to raise money for a variety of causes including homelessness and student scholarships.
