Originally from Newport News VA. I joined the US Army in 1982 after high school as a Patriot Missile Instructor in the School Brigade at Ft. Bliss TX. After 3 years of service I moved to the Outer Banks in 1986 and became a Paramedic with Dare County EMS. In Dec. 1993 I was elected Commissioner in Kill Devil Hills and was re-elected as Mayor in Dec. 1995. In 1992 I started Carolina Carpet Cleaning with 3 trucks and ran it for 13 years. In 1994 I opened Kokomo Joe’s Crab House and Tiki Bar in Kill Devil Hills. In 1996 I became a dealer / installer for Mirage Putting Greens / Synthetic turf putting greens and WaterlessGrass synthetic lawn grasses. 2004 that same company began manufacturing the Mirage Vision Outdoor TV’s which I became the Director of Business Development. Some of my clients were Disney, San Diego Padres Petco Stadium, Universal Studios, Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Sea World, Sandals Resorts, Hilton, Marriot, Hyatt, Fenway Stadium, Gillette Stadium, Levi Stadium, NASCAR and many more. I became a real estate broker in 2011. In 2015 I retired as a Paramedic Supervisor. I love the beach and fishing and live in Southern Shores with my family. So that’s the story of me.
