Chazy Area Insight

  • Through research, education, and demonstration, the William Miner Agricultural Research Institute strives to improve agricultural economics in the North Country. Their Chazy, NY institute focuses on dairy cow comfort as it relates to milk production. They also work on equine reproduction studies.

Their summer open house event features all they do and information is presented by employees and cheerful interns from around the country, who experience first-hand the benefit of studying at the institute. I remember from my childhood, of going to see their summer horse show and looking to see their bison as we arrived. What a place to live!
  • Did you know that Chazy Central School received the 2012 Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award? They were chosen one of 269 winners of more than 125,000 national schools. This award is earned for having five years of consistent exceptional academic test scores. That is quite an accomplishment.

It doesn't stop there, Chazy Central School almost always receives an excellent standing from State Education Department School Report Cards as well. This school district continues to show a great history of academic excellence but doesn't shy away from their great athletic programs as well.

Many championships have been won throughout the years at this school district. This small rural school really consistently comes out on top. So proud of them.
  • The William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute is a privately owned research institute located in Chazy. It's a very unique institute in the sense that it uses its farms to teach and educate students about agriculture environment, dairy and farm management, as well as equine horse training and management program. It's a very hands on institute.

It opens its doors to many local elementary schools for farm days to teach the children about agriculture and farming. Local high school students can also take chemistry classes at the farm to help promote quality drinking water as well as understanding river systems. The kids can't stop talking about their visits.

Miner Institute is open to the public seven days a week from from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. where visitors can tour the facility. Plan to visit when in the area. It's a great place for the young and old alike. I just really want to explore when I visit.
