    Whittier Oaks Development
Whittier Oaks is a mature treed development in the heart of Marlboro and was one of the two original large scale development build outs in Marlboro (the other being Monmouth Heights) through the mid-1970's (Triangle Oaks was around 1975). A main difference between the homes in Whittier Oaks, built by US Home beginning around 1964-1984 and Monmouth Heights, is the homes in Whittier Oaks have a basement (some partial) and offered more wood flooring standard (on the earlier homes built).

Homes have 3+ beds, 2+ baths and attached garage standard. Many homes have a fireplace and properties are generally .5+ acres private treed backyards. There are several sections of Whittier Oaks Marlboro: including Whittier Oaks West which is very convenient (walking distance) to Route 9 NYC bus, Whittier Oaks East and "the Bird" section built around 1980.

    Models in Whittier Oaks include:
    - Ranch: Tennyson & Longfellow ranches - the Longfellow has a 2nd master bedroom located on the 2nd level.
    - Emerson split - popular split model with kitchen, dining and family room on 1st level; living room on 2nd level
    - Whitman split - double door entry, kitchen living and dining room on 2nd level
    - Kilmer colonial: more common/popular colonial in the development
    - Sandburg - more common colonial with a family room on 2nd level (and bedrooms on 3rd level)
    - Bryant - more common colonial which features the exterior columns
    - Other Colonials: Whittier, Savannah (later built), Normandy (Tudor style; later built)
    - Contemporary - Shasta

Some of the homes in Whittier Oaks originally had oil heat, potentially underground, many of which have been updated to natural gas (so it's advisable to look into this history). US Home was acquired by Lennar around February 2000, creating the largest homebuilder in the United States at that time.
