  • Join the Celtic Sisters of West Orange and the Friendly Sons of the Shilleagh as they host the 8th Annual Frank Schott Memorial Blood Drive with the family of Frank Schott giving up the first pints! This is one of the largest blood donor events of the entire year - last year over 100 pints were donated! This event is November 23, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.

    All blood donors receive a free Irish breakfast (eggs, bangers, bacon, blood pudding, juice, coffee) courtesy of Stage Left Restaurant, one of New Jersey's premiere restaurants, located in New Brunswick and owned by Francis Schott.     Join Mayor Parisi and the Downtown West Orange Alliance for the Annual Trick or Treat Spooktacular and pumpkin decorating on the final day of the Farmer's Market! The Trick or Treat Spooktacular October 31 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. The West Orange Farmer's Market is located in the Quigley Municipal Lot at Harrison and Mississippi Avenues. The Farmer's Market is open from 12:00-6:00 pm every Friday through October 31.

    Kids get to wear their costumes and decorate a free pumpkin with squeeze paints, markers and stickers! Parents can shop for goodies during the last day of the season at West Orange Farmers Market. The Halloween Good Witch will also be on hand to entertain and bewitch!
  • Just before Super Bowl XLVIII, on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, America's Heroes, the Wounded Warrior Amputee Football Team, come to Codey Arena to take on the FDNY & NJ Heroes of 9/11, to play football at Codey Arena with NFL Alumni.
    The game is being hosted by NFL Football greats: NY Jets Je Klecko and NY Giants Phil McConkey( a US Naval graduate) and 4 time Super Bowl Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steeler Rocky Bleier. the event will include a special half time appearance by The Village People, free photos opportunity and autographs with players prior to the game and raffle prizes.

    The game is sponsored by Essex County, The AFL's 2013 Champion Philadelphia Soul, Humana and the Military Benefit Association. The Wounded Warrior Amputee Football Team is composed of US Veterans who have lost a limb in Iraq or Afghanistan while serving this country.

  • The 2014 Classic Film Festival, hosted by the West Orange Arts Council and Film Society kicked off on January 5 at the AMC Dine-In Theatre located in the Essex Green Shopping Mall. Every Sunday till February 23 a classic movie will be shown with an introduction from a film scholar or movie critic prior to the movie and an after film discussion. Some of this years speakers include Gerard Amsellem, Paul Castiglia, Michael Goldberger, Steve Gorelick and Stephen Whitty.
