I distinctly remember my first walk through the Sourland Mountain Preserve. It was an extraordinary day in April in roughly 2005/2006. We had been experiencing a bit of inclement weather that April and when the sun finally came out to shine, it was time to pack up the car, get the kids ready and indulge in some outdoor adventure. As an avid outdoors man, nature is something that I have always admired and as a resident of Hillsborough, prior to this memorable day in April, I hadn't had the opportunity to explore this alluring and sizable plot of land. (The Sourland Mountains stretch out over rougly 4,000 acres of county-owned land and is spread throughout parts of Somerset, Hunterdon and Mercer Counties). Once we arrived, we headed over to Trailhead, where all the trails begin and end. Knowing we were not experts in hiking, we decided to take an easy stroll and embarked on the Pondside Trail which is about a 1/2 mile adventure. Immersed completely in nature, we were privileged to see an array of wildlife of which I cannot name along with some of the most alluring scenes. To say my family enjoyed the day is an understatement. Since my first adventure there, we have returned countless times and every client who purchases within these areas that a visit to the Sourland Mountain is a must! For outdoor enthusiasts, the options are endless. Enjoy hiking, biking, bird watching and horseback riding to name a few!
