    Raritan, NJ
Raritan has a motto, "A friendly town of friendly people" which is largely true due to its small town feel. It has a population of less than 10,000 people and is only about two square miles in size.
Raritan offers quite a bit for a home owner. A budding downtown and a high walkability score along with favorable property taxes make Raritan a destination for first time home buyers or people who have lived there most of their lives.
Students attend nearby Bridgewater schools which has long been thought of as an excellent district. With easy access to Routes 78 and 22 and train service to Newark, Raritan is a great place to not only work but also commute to work from. Shopping is available not only downtown but in nearby Somerville and Bridgewater.
If you're searching for a small town feel that has a lot going for it, you would be well served to check out Raritan Borough.

A little present for spring is coming to Raritan Borough by way of the local train station. Starting March 3rd, 2014, commuters will be able to ride from the station in Raritan directly to NY Penn Station without having to switch trains in Newark. This is something that local area residents have been begging to have happen for years. However, for the time being, the "one seat" ride will begin right after rush hour and end around noon daily. Residents hope that this is only the beginning and such rides will become available for rush hour commuters and weekend travelers. Stay tuned!
