Oceanport offers a variety of fun summer enrichment classes for public school kids. The classes range from cooking, to sports, to different forms of art. For me, the best part is they offer the same classes to students of West Long Branch! Currently, my daughter is in a Cookie Wars class, where they make a different cookie each day. Last year, she was in a cooking class and an art class. The classes are only a week each but many of them are offered multiple times throughout the summer. They are also, at most, 3 hours long so still plenty of time of go to the beach or pool club. If you have a son or daughter in Oceanport or West Long Branch public schools, look for the list of classes next spring and be sure to take advantage of at least one!

I live in West Long Branch, but if I had known more about Oceanport when my family and I were looking for a home down here, I think I would have chosen to live here instead. It's very similar to West Long Branch, sort of a mirror image being on the other side of Route 36. The schools are just as small and good, the superintendent is the same, students go to the same high school, Shore Regional, and it has a variety of homes to suit families along the income spectrum.

It has proximity to water, too, just different. Whereas West Long Branch has Franklin Lake and closeness to the beach at Long Branch, Oceanport is surrounded by the Shrewsbury River so it's great for boaters. If you own a boat, this is a great town to live in.

Perhaps best of all is that the taxes are a little lower, generally, in Oceanport. Although larger shopping centers are still in West Long Branch, like ShopRite Plaza and Consumer Center, the Monmouth Racetrack is in Oceanport. Oceanport is building up its businesses with new construction across from the Park. There have been rumors that a Starbucks will be coming. If that is true, then all hail to Oceanport!

Oceanport is another one of those close, family-minded towns along the shore of Monmouth County. River views are easy to get and many residents own boats. There are houses of all sizes and prices in Oceanport, from million dollar mansions on the water to two bedroom cottages. There are only two public schools; one elementary and one middle. Both schools, but especially the middle school, are tucked away within residential neighborhoods. The middle school would be hard to find without an exact address! Blackberry Park is a wonderful spot right on the water, has fields to accommodate several sports and includes a town pool. Oceanport is also the home to the Monmouth Racetrack, which holds many events during the summer besides horse races. Currently, there is a new shopping center being built that will create more of a "town center". This is just a snapshot of what it is like to live in Oceanport.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of visiting Oceanport lately you would sure to be amazed. A little over a year ago we suffered one of the greatest tragedy's to have faced the Jersey Shore in decades. While taking in the warm weather and speaking to some local residents I remembered what this beautiful town looked like a year ago and the amazing progress that has taken place. It is refreshing to see what resilience and pride exists; from those who were spared helping their neighbors to the response of local officials and volunteers to help bring normalcy back. There is no doubt that Oceanport and its residents are truly stronger than the storm. For more info on updated FEMA maps to town services the boro website is a great resource for potential sellers and buyers and to help remember we are truly a community standing strong. http://www.oceanportboro.com/

One of the awesome things about our great little borough of Oceanport is all of the community events and our wonderful residents! We just concluded our "Movies in the Park" seen in this video. It is fantastic to be a resident of such a great town! I am proud to be Oceanport's Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Committee!

I've lived in Oceanport for around 20 years now. Oceanport is a very small town with a population of about 5800. When you live here you will have that small town feel where everyone knows one another. Oceanport has all middle to upper class homes, mostly ranging from $300,000 to $3,000,000. The average home is probably in the ballpark of $600,000. Oceanport is a peninsula shaped town boasting a lot of waterfront property along the Shrewsbury River. The river provides many fun activities such as, powerboats, water sports, water-front bars, islands, fishing, crabbing, and, although Oceanport is a no discharge zone, you can duck hunt along the river still. It is also a bicycle ride from the beaches at Long Branch, Monmouth Beach, and Sea Bright. It's a five minute drive to the historic Sandy Hook. The Long Branch Train Station is just a few minutes away as well as the Little Silver Train Station.
