The last time I was out at my favorite sledding hill in Hamilton I ran into a client of mine, a lifelong Hamilton resident, and she remarked that she just found this place to sled with her kids and never knew about it before! Well, lots of snow is forecast again for this week and I want to tell you the three best places for sledding in Hamilton.
The one that everyone knows is at Veteran's Park - at the west entrance right next to the RWJ Hospital. This one is pretty good, but gets really crowded and the snow is usually worn down to mud by the end of the first day.
The second, the one where I saw my client, is next to and behind the Hamilton Library. It's a nice steep hill behind the library and another on the side of the library. I like this one... it's never too crowded and if you get cold, you can take a break inside the library to warm up.
Lastly, the little known hill along Miry Run Lake off of Hughes Drive -- just down the street from Mercer County Park. You can get to this long, steep, hidden hill by parking at the small parking lot on Hughes Dr. near Paxson Ave., just north of Flock Rd. and walk past the big white storage building to the hill. It doesn't get very crowded and there is plenty of room to sled.
I hope you try one of these out and maybe I'll see you out there!
