Bruce was born at Lee Memorial Hospital and raised in Fort Myers. He attended public schools and graduated in 1969 from Fort Myers High School. Upon graduating in 1973 from Stetson University in Deland, Florida with a degree in Business Administration Bruce Grady taught American history at Fort Myers High School in 1974. Bruce then began his real estate career in 1975 by joining his father John Grady at Grady Realty & Construction. In 1977 he became a real estate broker and started Grady Properties where he developed 3 mobile home subdivisions from 1977 through 1994. He was the leasing director & building manager of the 9-story, Class A Barnett Centre office building (First Class A building in Lee Country) located in downtown Fort Myers in 1987 & 1988. From 1988 to 1996 Bruce was a Fort Myers City Councilman representing Ward 5 which runs along the McGregor Blvd. corridor. In 1996 Bruce was elected Mayor and the Chief Executive Office of the City of Fort Myers and served for 4 years. Fort Myers, at that time, had a population of approximately 54,000 and a total workforce of about 1,000 employees. In 2001 Bruce joined Mark Alexander Commercial Realty. Bruce has constructed two vacation homes as an owner/builder on Upper Captiva Island and has secured development orders for his commercial properties. He also became a mortgage broker with Amstar Mortgage Corporation of Fort Myers in 2003. Mr. Grady was elected a Matera Condominium (located on Colonial Blvd) Board member from 2007-2009. He has managed his personal residential rental and commercial property investments from 2001 through the present. He enjoys flying as a private pilot, history, biographies, politics and boating.
