It's going to happen, because I'm going to make it happen
Hi! My name is Douglas, I am Hispanic with an American name, I got this name because my mom was an admirer of Kirk Douglas an American actor, and she loves his movies. I was born in El Salvador a very small country in Central America. El Salvador was under war conflict since 1970 to 1984 it was very difficult to cope with it, but my bigger challenge was to survive and I did. I benefited from a warm supportive family which provides me with a sound education and opportunities for personal growth. I became an engineer in 1982 and worked for few years building bridges in El Salvador. My second challenge was moving to the US in 1984 a different culture, a different language and away from my family.
I started working as a professional welder in the city of Pomona CA, building stainless steel commercial kitchen equipment that required understanding of blue prints, electric configurations, some basic plumbing, and so forth. I really loved doing my job. I left my welding job due to an injury then I enrolled in Riverside Community college taking English class as a second language.
I got married in 1988 and still with the same lovely girl since then and who bore two wonderful kids. I lived in Los Angeles from 1984 and moved to the city of Riverside and Corona in 1991. I began working with my wife Blanca Portillo in 2002 as a real estate assistant; she has been a Real Estate agent since 1997.
I got my Real Estate license in 2006 and joined my wife side by side as a Real Estate team. We really enjoy our job so much, it is a great privilege and a responsibility to help families to sell or find their homes; I want to admit that it's a great reward to see a lot of happy families who have bought a home for the first time.
My wife and I have helped many Home owners as well to keep their home by guiding them with vital information. Many have modified their homes through the government aid like Keep Your Home California, HAMP during the Real Estate downturn and helping those who have received a notice of trust deed sale to avoid foreclosure and sold their homes through the short sale process saving their credit and relieved a load off their shoulders successfully.
It is funny but I believe that life challenges are like oranges; some are sweet and some are sour but we have to taste them first one by one to experience. I enjoy cooking, playing football soccer (futbol). I love being close to the ocean and my favorite food is sushi. I love to read the Bible and teach others as well. I have a strong faith in our creator.
My best desire is that every person to remember me as an honest, trustworthy person that I did and at least tried my best to serve them. Napoleon Hill said “It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.” If I’m a fitting to your Real Estate needs, call me! Let’s get together for a cup of coffee to know each other.
All the best
